Magical history in Lincolnshire

Legendary holidays and magical breaks await in Lincolnshire. This is a place where ancient heritage meets amazing activities to create some of the best breaks ever.

Our new Landal Park in Lincolnshire provides the perfect place to rest and relax while you enjoy an amazing stay. Alongside amazing comfort and relaxation there are all kinds of activities to enjoy in and around the park.

If you’re planning a visit then take a look at our recommendations for the most magical historical attractions in Lincolnshire.

Lincoln Castle

Beautifully preserved history combines with modern technology to make a fun and fascinating visitors’ experience. Explore the story of King Jon and the barons meeting at Runnymede to agree a charter of liberties called the Magna Carta. Re-issued in 1217 with the ‘Charter of the Forest’, the castle is the only place in the world where you can see an original 1215 Magna Carta and the 1217 Charter of the Forest.

The new Vault attraction allows you to immerse yourself in history with a new underground widescreen cinema, offering 210 degree wraparound screen and 3D sound. And when you’ve finished, you can enjoy a day out for the ages in lovely Lincoln.

Tattershall Castle

This rectangular brick-built castle is a real one-off. As well as offering a unique experience to visitors, you can enjoy an amazing day out thanks to its National Trust stewardship. There are all kinds of seasonal activities to enjoy, from Halloween and Xmas activities to celebrations of spring and summer. With stunning surrounds, you will also find as much to enjoy outside as indoors.

There are all kinds of unique sights to see, from priceless Flemish tapestries, stained glass and beautiful views from the battlements to Second World War planes flying overhead.

Belvoir Castle

A regency gem in the heart of England, Belvoir Castle offers a scenic, stunning visitors’ attraction that is the perfect day out – whether you want education or to unwind. Explore formal gardens with water features, wonderful woodland trails and many more amazing outdoor sights within 16,000 stunning acres of parkland.

The castle interiors are equally scenic and impressive, with grand rooms containing all kinds of treasures and amazing artefacts. Because it is a family home, you can explore the history of the Manners family as you make your way around the interior. A fascinating tale and a wonderful day out awaits!

Grimsthorpe Castle and Gardens

There’s no shortage of history to explore and admire in Lincolnshire, but few locations are as iconic as this grand attraction close to Bourne. 3,000 stunning surrounding acres await along with a truly amazing castle built from local limestone. The residing Willoughby family fulfils the role of the Monarch’s representative at the Palace of Westminster. Due to this you can explore one of the largest collections of royal thrones and furnishings in the UK.

There’s plenty more to enjoy too, including amazing artworks and fine furnishings. A packed programme of calendar events ensures that there’s something to enjoy in all seasons, and the gorgeous Capability Brown designed grounds are not to be missed!
