Favourite family days out in the Peak District
The perfect place to get away from it all, there’s never a bad time to visit the Peak District, but visit in summer and you have the ultimate holiday playground filled with beautiful locations and activities to enjoy.
Both Landal Darwin Forest and Landal Sandybrook are perfectly placed for helping you have a brilliant summer in the Peak District, with amazing accommodation and in-park activities to enjoy. There’s plenty more to enjoy too, so if you’re ready for an amazing escape in the Peaks, here are a few of our favourite places to go and things to see.
One of the UK’s most popular attractions, Alton Towers is filled with so much fun that you may need to spend more than one day exploring it. 2019 welcomes two new attractions in CBeebies Land, plus there’s the all new Alton Towers Dungeon. And when you’ve finished having all that pulse-racing fun, you can return to your peaceful surroundings. Both of our Landal resorts are less than an hour away, so you can be home before you know it!

A little more civilised, and far more dog friendly, Chatsworth House and gardens offer a stunning summer visit. The house offers an incredible experience, and the grounds are ideal for walking your dog on a lead. What’s more, there are all kinds of special summer events, including outdoor cinema screenings of Mary Poppins Returns and Bohemian Rhapsody, afternoon tea events, a celebration of our four-legged friends and lots of children’s activities.

The only thing more stunning than seeing the glorious Peak District scenery from ground level is appreciating it from the air! Take a trip in a cable car to the very top of the Heights of Abraham and you can see stunning views and enjoy all kinds of other attractions, including a tour of the caverns, outdoor play area and much more. When you return to earth, you can explore the lovely setting of Matlock Bath too; it’s a perfect mix of entertainment and education.

On the other hand you can head underground and explore these incredible caverns in Buxton. Two-million years in the making, Pooles Cavern offers incredible crystalline displays and a unique otherworldly ambience. Tours set off every 20 minutes and last about an hour. And because you are underground, it’s a great option if the summer weather lets you down.

The perfect place to celebrate the countryside at summertime, this fantastic family farm park offers amazing animals and activities. Meet meerkats, wallabies, emus plus goats, sheep pigs and more. Young holidaymakers can learn to ride horses or enjoy a relaxing pony trek, and there are all kinds of other activities too, including adventure playgrounds and go kart tracks.
