The Famous Nine at Landal Gwel an Mor
One of the oldest, most famous and prestigious of all the major golf tournaments, the British Open has been taking in some of the world’s best courses since 1860. There are few better competitions for spectators and participants, but you don’t need to be Rory Mcllroy to enjoy golfing’s greatest holes this summer.
Landal Gwel an Mor allows you to tour the world playing golfing’s greatest greens all in the space of an afternoon. ‘The Famous Nine’ course was designed by David Cooper to offer 3 par versions of some of golfing’s most glorious holes. Take a tour of legendary venues such as St Andrews, Augusta, Sawgrass, Royal Troon, Pebble Beach and Carnoustie, all without having to leave the same course.
Not only does The Famous Nine offer acclaimed reproductions (Ryder Cup Captain, Bernard Gallacher, described the experience of playing the Postage Stamp as being ‘exactly like it’), but it also offers the largest golf course using all-weather greens in the UK and the only golf course in Cornwall allowing year-round access due to use of the very latest all-weather greens materials.
Despite the influences of its 9 holes, the scenic setting in an elevated coastal location above Portreath is entirely original and completely breath-taking to boot. The course takes around 90 minutes to two hours to play, and coaching is available from pros Jonathan Lamb and Russel Binney. So if you’re ready for your golfing world tour, take a look at our beautiful accommodation at Landal Gwel an Mor.
