Pirelli International Rally
Kielder Water and Forest Park may not be the first place you think of for high-octane motor racing fun, but Landal holidays are filled with wonderful surprises. So visit in late April and you can enjoy the best views of incredible motor racing entertainment, as the Pirelli International Rally winds its way through the Kielder Valley.
Starting as the Tour of Cumbria, the rally grew when Pirelli became sponsors in 1977. After outgrowing its Cumbrian home, and receiving National status, it found a home in the beautiful Kielder Forest complex. 155,000 acres of beautiful woodland offer the perfect setting for some amazing rally stages.
The Birdoswald Roman Fort offers an amazing introduction to both the event, and the area, to drivers. The ruined settlement at the western end of Hadrian’s Wall is where the reconnaissance run begins. After that, drivers will familiarise themselves with the gravel track that snakes through the woodland before the racing begins.
Pick your perfect spot and you can enjoy all the action. It’s free to watch the Pirelli International Rally, but safety comes first, so organisers will ensure your vantage point is a safe distance from all the action. And when the event is over, you can enjoy the gorgeous tranquillity of Kielder. It’s an amazing and unique way to experience this beautiful part of Britain in the springtime.
